Honor 9i launched with 5.9 inch 18:9 FullView display and dual cameras

Huawei’s Honor sub-brand has just launched the Honor 9i  mid-range smartphone in India. The phone is launched as a Flipkart exclusive.

The smartphone is priced at 19,999 INR, but it will be available for a discounted price of 17,999 INR (around €234).

The Honor 9i is the same phone as the Maimang 6 that was announced for China and the Honor Nova 2i for Malaysia.

The Honor 9i/Nova 2i/Maimang 6 has a large 5.9-inch 18:9 IPS LCD display of (FHD+) 1080×2160 resolution – named FullView display.

It is powered by Huawei’s custom quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 chip with 4GB of RAM. Along with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU, it has 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card (Hybrid).

It is backed up by a decent 3,340mAh non-removable battery and there’s a fingerprint reader on the back.

It runs on EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The company adds that the Honor 9i features the ‘Huawei Histen audio system’ from its 2012 Lab, algorithmically enhancing sound output. Honor is also highlighting Bluetooth aptX support.

Plus there are some gesture-based shortcuts like ‘draw an S’ for a long screenshot to capture an entire webpage; ‘tap twice with one finger’ for a screenshot, and ‘tap twice with two fingers’ for screen recording.

Coming to the cameras, Honor 9i features dual cameras on the back (16MP+2MP), with LED flash and two selfie shooters on the front (13MP + 2MP).  Dual cameras on both panels mean that the handset is capable of clicking Bokeh shots and portraits.

It weighs 164 g and measures 156.2 x 75 x 7.5 mm.

The Honor 9i will be available on Flipkart starting October 14. It will be available in three colours: Platinum Gold, Navy Blue, and Midnight Black. Honor 9i launch offers will be revealed on the release date only.

The Huawei owned-brand also launched the 10000mAh Quick Charge Power Bank, priced at Rs 2.399. It will be available via the Honor online store for India, with a Diwali offer till October 28 that makes it available at a discounted price of Rs. 1,999.
